That is interesting, I was sure that in the combined cycle the V6 would have been more economical over the V8 by more than 1mpg.

As I am not in America I don't know the list of models available to you but I think this formula works the world over, bigger means heavier and heavier means less economical. So if you need space then you will pay for it at the pump, regardless of engine.
