I drove the 135i pretty hard and it felt the same as the 335i as far as power and handling. The main difference is the 135's interior felt much cheaper and less insulated than the 335's. Not to mention it is butt ugly. I'll pick the 335i over the 135i any day.

I have no doubt that the n54 powered 1&3 series can be modded to beat a stock M3 in acceleration. But when you add up all the mods required to make the car as fast as a M3, the resell value of the car when you decide to sell it and the possiblity of having warranty issues, the M3 start making a lot of sense. Why waste the time and money to mod a car just to worry about reliability when you can drive a damn good factory tuned track car? That's my theory. The reason I sold the 335i for the M3.
