Thank you for this write-up, I installed the non-electronic wheel in my car today.

Some tips to help people out - some said that they had a really hard time removing the airbag. I did until I took a second to understand the mechanism retaining the air bag.

When you insert the driver in the slit, you're not just pushing against the back of the bag - you're engaging the wire retainer for the bag. See below. There is a dedicated channel in the stamping to receive the driver and engage the end of the wire retainer.



Notice that the wire retainer is pressed out wide. When you put tension on it with the screwdriver, it deflects inward and releases the airbag hook. There is one large hook per side.



When you engage these correctly, pulling the airbag should be a breeze.



One other thing to note - the steering wheel trim is held on by T20 screws, not T25 as indicated in the original post.
