agreed, never buy first year models. Just look at happened with the current M3. Anyone who got prior 2009 is now stuck with the old Idrive, and everyone prior to 2011 has pre lci tail lights (easy retrofit but nonetheless). and all the special additions like the limerock, frozens,...
I also wouldn't be surprised if the next gen M4 woud have some sort of HP boost sometime along its life.
In the end it doesn't REALLY matter since ur getting an amazing machine after all, but you'll always see newer cars with newer options and specs that you don't have. Not the best feeling in the world
