Thanks guys. My BMW service advisor also confirmed that this is normal for a new M3 engine. He offered to tap it off for free. However, the engineer in me thinks that there should be enough engine oil available in the oil pan to avoid having to tap off (inconvenience issue).I guess it is not a big deal if this only happens during the first few oil changes. Hopefully the oil consumption will reduce after the engine is broken in?
