I won't go into a debate to what Billmister has been saying. It will be pointless.
But I'll just say at the end of the day if you have
1. Good Specs(ram, CPU, etc.)
2. Know how to use your software(You can turn off all the questions Vista ask you)
3. Use software that will help you(Firefox etc.)
No matter if you get a Mac or Windows based computer you should be fine for now. So it is your choice just make sure both are to your needs.
