I'm looking at upgrading from my 335i that I've owned for almost 5 years, and so I've had a lot of time to think about how to switch over the M3. I am leaning towards the used route, looking at a 2010 or 2011, ZCP. I think I can be just as happy with used (bought my 335i new).
