Another way I recommend you is:
Buy a M3 from CarMax then get an CarMax extended warranty for 5 years for only 2k.
It covers Engine, Tranny and Electrical for 5 years/ 90k miles.

Cool thing is: You can even take the M3 to BMW dealership for service. You just need to pay 75 bucks deductible.

I bought an 99 M3 (31k miles only!) from CarMax and purchased extended warranty as well. At the end of the day, the 99 E36M3 (May 2014 or 121k miles) has longer warranty than my 08 M3.
Carmax is a rip off. You got lucky. This probably wont repeat itself for the OP.
