xbox 360 red ring of death best buy warranty

Little vent here...

I bought a protection plan with my xbox 360 on december 2008 and since than it had been repaired 4 time and it was sent in for a repair 5th time last week.
When I went to drop it off at the best buy, gentleman who helped me suggested I should claim no lemon and should call to file it.
So I call to file the claim and I was told that I can't get a replacement for red ringed xbox under lemon policy because this is covered by microsoft and that I should take it to microsoft.
I bought the plan because I knew xbox's die alot and in case of situation like this, I could get a replacement and so I I wouldn't have to ship the unit out.
Shouldn't the policy cover any defects or lemon no matter what the problem is? Repairing xbox is pointless. It will break again. Repaired units always came back with same problems.

Any personal experience with best buy warranty and xbox 360?
