I believe the Viper ACR ran a 7:12 but was not a street legal car. The GT2 RS ran 7:18 and was a full on production car as far as I remember and also is one of if not the fastest.
Yes, in general vipers have always been close with the exotics. Granted the Ferraris and Lambos generally dont put up that impressive of times on the Ring. The 458 italia only ran a 7:40. A Porsche 991 Carrera S also runs 7:40 by comparison...even though it has nearly 200 hp less.
