So far it seems as though your two quotes aren't quite holding to be true. More 6MTs bought off the lot than DCTs (instead of 95% of new cars on the lot being DCT) and greater than 50% is DCT of forum going M3 enthusiasts.
Not that this is scientific result but it does suggest some of the generalities people talk about aren't always true (or even close to it).
