I cant really answer your specific coverage and difference on Stated v Total questions, but I may be able to help in another way...

As a service advisor, and dealing with a lot of ext warr companies... EasyCare and Fidelity are the two best (their top plans), from my experience. They tend to be more expensive than most other companies, but I've seen them cover things that A) they shouldnt, or B) things I'd never expect them to cover (ex: window moldings).

They do not fight and haggle with dealer prices, like capping out at say $99/hour making you, the customer pay the difference in labor; and they send an inspector out in a reasonable amount of time. For what its worth, I'd rec to take to the top plan. Its never 100% certain they will cover something, but you're better safe than sorry with TotalCare.
