You should read some of the auto news articles on the amount of light weight metals that are being used in car construction these days. For one the new Porsche Boxster. Amazing amount of aluminium and magnesium. Also, the manufacturers are glueing (not wleding) many of these different metals pieces together. I'm not surprised to see those numbers being discussed. Bigger, lighter, more power = better performance.
I can see small improvements like what we saw on the boxter, but that still a far cry from the rumors for the M4. But hey, I'd be glad to be proven wrong on this one, time will tell
