i have the same problem before, with my 20mm spacer in front. When driving on freeway over 70's miles. the steering wheel shimmy badly. And now i have new set of rims with 5mm spacer. The steering wheel are tight & smooth. So i think shimmy problem should be your spacer or the rims balance.
