I don't think it's maintenance, I think the fear is more with parts. Replacing a clutch, brake pads, exhaust, transmission, turbo, etc.

This general sentiment that Nissan could potentially walk away from warranty repairs on parts that could cost between 10-20k, was due to Nissan's initial reaction to the launch control issue, and voiding warranties on a handful of cars.

But as one of the resident GT-R lovers stated, comparitively (performance competitor's) it's not that bad.
