Sorry for your bad start with such an awesome car. Like some of the guys said although we obvioulsy see some issues also with the S65, overall the M3 E9x including the engine is an extremely solid car.
Will be interesting to hear what the issue was.
As far as I know the S65 engine is no longer production. You want to make sure they put in an either new from warehouse or completely rebuilt (should be no brainer with 3k miles but you never know do you...).
