Interest in a Carbon OEM or Vented hood by Challenge?
I've been on the fence for some time about if we want to go ahead with a hood design for the E92 M3. With our focus on designing functional parts with inspiration from professional racing and motorsports engineering, I want to be sure we offer our customers something that has a benefit beyond just cosmetic enhancement. We can do a lightweight oem style easily of course, but I'd prefer to do something with extraction ducting/vents that will add some additional function and style.
As always, we would design and produce the carbon hood here in the USA using dry laid carbon and with honeycomb composite core for maximum strength and weight savings. Hoods would follow a similar recipe like we use for our famously light trunk lids.
Hood seem to not be as popular on the E92 compared to the E46, so I’m not sure if it’s just something people aren’t into, or the right design hasn’t come around yet. Any feedback or expression of interest is appreciated!
