When buying a car in other state you pay taxes based on your state.
For example in South Carolina when buying a car the sales tax caps out at 300$ so when I was quoted buying a car from a dealer in CA. It was the price of the car +300$ South Carolina tax. Nothing more and no taxes to CA.
