This is very true. I got nearly $15k over the trade-in price when I sold my six-year old E46 M3 privately. I must say I got very lucky because the first buyer who came along after just two weeks on carsales.com.au was a genuine one. All don't get lucky like that. You have to watchout for those thieves especially when you're selling an ///s.

Some of the methods used to steal cars in Australia will put countries like South Africa to shame. Be careful guys when advertising to sell privately. My wife works in the insurance industry and some of the horror stories I hear are just unbelievable.
