Then you should factor in, the M3 had competition package on it.
Even if you look at the Japanese Best Motoring videos of M3 versus IS-F around Tsukuba circuit (there were 3 track competitions), this is how it looked.

That video pretty much sums up what I have found with the M3 and the IS-F.
The IS-F is very good - but the M3 is great.
