What problem did you have with pirelli out of interest?
Compared with Michelin's I had, my experience with Pirelli's was that the car would understeer terribly in the wet, to the point I felt they were dangerous. Understeering off a small roundabout towards the kerb at 20kph was my first "what the?" moment. I baby my car on the road, and a couple more incidents in the wet (with young kids in the back seat) made up my mind. Behaviour in the dry was fine. I also found they weren't as good as the Michelin's at the track.

So, anecdotal evidence only (and maybe I just happened to have back luck with Pirellis), but I know I won't buy them again and am happy to experiment with other tyres to find the ones I like.
