12,000 is a fair estimate on PS2 rears for pretty spirited driving.
I can't figure it out--I got 15-17 rear on my E46, and looks like 20+ on the E92. Both on PS2s. Doesn't make sense.

I think the PS2s are great tires for grip, noise and feel. I would not mix tires front and rear, though it probably won't throw him off the road.
