I think it's understandable for a tuned 335i to out perform an E92 M3 in acceleration, especially from a rolling start or above 100mph. The chat is these 335i are kicking out as much as 440hp and as much in torque so why is this news to some people.

Up until the new M3 came out I would have regarded the 335i the best 3 series to own, it ticks all of the boxes, low end pulling power, top end zing, comfort and economical plus decent handling even without a diff. But after sampling the new M3 I was amazed at how practical an M car could be and with this V8 under the bonnet we have a car that not only pulls from low revs in a way the old car could only dream of but is even better at higher revs, it's handling is just as capable as before but with even more traction which is mind boggling when you consider there's an extra 70 horses. Factor in the electronic dampers and the M-diff and you have a much more capable car than a 335i regardless of how much tuning is done to the engine.
