I know that a lot of the idrive functions such as radio station favourites are stored against the specific key. So if a second driver gets in the car with the other key the other set of favourites is there. It may be the same with this idrive programming choice.
Try putting the second key in the car (with the other far away if you have comfort access) and program the lights again. See if that keeps the DRLs on.
