The BREAK-IN oil has an ADDITIVE in it, that's it.
That information comes from BMW AG.
One of my M3s had about 800 miles on it and the oil was getting a little low, so the dealer did my 1200 service at around 1000 miles. As long as the computer goes from Orange to Yellow, BMW will cover it NC.
Also, like one of the posters stated just add a little 10W 60. DO NOT RUN OUT OF OIL!
One thing, do NOT OVERFILL, it is death for an M3, that comes straight from the MASTER TECH who works on my cars. Better to under fill a little!
