Some comments on the swoop scoops:
I'd be pretty skeptical of the functionality and performance of those scoops. Air flow and thermodynamics can be complex and non-intuitive. It begs the question: do you really think if BMW could get significant power and performance from such a mod that they wouldn't have just included it on the car themselves?
These remind me a bit of the side scoops some folks put on early model VW busses to "improve" cooling. Of course even back then before computational fluid dynamics (CFD) the VW engineers got the cooling of their air cooled designs pretty darn good right out of the box.
With the added concern of potentially less engine cooling, again another reason to be skeptical.
