Here is a link to a good Low profile jack like we spoke about: Low profile floor jack

Here is a link for a Torque wrench that should work fine for you as well: 1/2" Torque Wrench You will need a 17mm 1/2" drive socket for wheel lugs and the torque spec is 90 Ft/Lb....... Your husband can show you how to properly torque the wheels.

P.S. Make sure you get that clear bra installed on your hood before your track day...... would be a shame to wreck that nice paint work IND did for you. Most of all, Have fun..... that is what tracking is all about!!!
DAMN!! $400+ for a jack? Got mine at Costco and they're manufactured local to me in case it brakes. Costco should also cover it with their own warranty.
A decent torque wrench should be about $30-50 and don't forget at least a 3 inch extension to clear the fender.
I'd also get a Colgan old school bra for $150 for track days. WAY easier than tape and a marked up clear bra is just as bad as chipped paint.

I figured a first-time track day would be a good excuse/way to wear the current ones out so I can move to the fresh set for next track day. Does anyone advise this approach?? According to tirerack "As any autocrosser or racer who has tread rubber shaved off of his tires will tell you, low tread depth tires respond quicker."

thanks for your advice.

Come out to Las Vegas with the BMWCCA in early October. It's a GREAT way to get on the track.
I think swamp had issues with is PS's that were pretty low at the track.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
