Case in point ... when I purchased my used e46 M3 from a BMW dealer in Vancouver, BC Canada in 2004 I drove her home to Edmonton, Alberta Canada where I lived at the time. It is required to get a safety check done before one can licence the car in the home Province.

I had this done at the local BMW dealer and you know what the brake drum was 1 mm below local safety requirements so I had to have them changed to get the car safety certified.

the e46 was a certified used BMW when I purchased the car and drover her home some 1200 KM.
thanks for the info. just took a look at the rotors and they do have a lip on the outer edges. does anybody resurface rotors anymore or do you just replace them?
