I am one of the guys who laugh at the talk of gas mileage when looking at performance cars. While not horrible, I happily took a 1300 mile road trip in my STi that gave around 17mpg... 4 times... in 2 years.
But then again, I am also known to not make traditionally good financial decisions, but I have no bills and all my play money goes into cars and toys so I'm not a good baseline for the discussion.
Maybe in terms of resale value these cars will end up like old muscle cars. Not made anymore so wanted and valued by car guys but frowned upon by people who don't matter.
