In my mind if you spent money on a new car, it must be a new car. You can always get a second hand M3 2008 to save money. Also the MY2009 has hopefully resolved the bugs in MY2008.
In five years from now you still have the 'newer' E92 which gets you more money when trading in for a new M3 in 2013...
