Also, with regard to the lip spoiler, my service guy said BMW made a conscious decision NOT to include the spoiler on the decklid since it's a dual-hinged lid (opens as a trunk, and as a tonneau cover for the convertible hardtop) the downforce created by the spoiler could misalign or otherwise damage the hinges back there.
Not sure if he was blowing smoke or what, but I'm not going to risk a potential mechanical failure just for the sake of good looks. Besides, as an owner, I think the E93 M3 back end looks great without the spoiler IMHO. |
That sounds like some serious BS. I don't think that the little spoiler is going to create so much downforce that hinges are going to become misaligned. Either way, the vert boot lid looks good as it is. They probably didn't put it on there because it would look too busy with the shark fin.
