You are correct. A brushed aluminum center console is not available OEM for the M3. The E9x version will not fit an M3 due to a different shape of the shift boot and the M-specific buttons to the left of the shifter. Your options are to buy a painted version or a carbon fiber version from IND... or take your chances with an aftermarket version. Keep in mind that the OEM M3 version is wrapped in leather. Some people mistakenly think it's soft touch plastic.
