Did I miscalculate? According to the article, that stopping distance is something around 700-800 feet (roughly) feet to go from 185 mph to 0 in 4 seconds. It's amazing the drivers don't die immediately of a brain aneurysm.
( I assumed mu at 1.4, since mu of 1.1 at 60 mph yields 110 foot stopping distance, and that's what our cars can do, more or less on normal performance street tires.)
