I'm not being biased here since I own an M3, but stock VS stock, the M3 will defeat the 1M in the track performance wise.
However, modifying the 1M is another story...
I will not choose between the two, but if I had a choice I will try to purchase a 1M and add it to my collection.
Owning an M3 and 1M FTW!
