BMW has a Bluetooth-only retrofit solution also, the ULF, that doesn't require any of the extra parts -nor the extra cost- of the Assist but it doesn't offer it in the USA.
I don't know what is the problem with BMWNA and, in lesser extent the USA dealers, concerning Bluetooth retrofits in cars not so equipped.
I do understand that BMWNA wants to push the Assist system factory installed, being by itself or being part of the Premium package. But considering that not all the cars at the dealer lot have Assist (specially the 3 Series and the X3)
but all USA BMW have the Telephone preparation standard, keeping a ready available OEM Bluetooth retrofit solution in the rest of the world but in the USA as a "secret" is simply absurd.
They did the same for the E46 and now for the E9x. They should be promoting this as an after-sales OEM accessory as well as OEM wheels and OEM leather cleaner/conditioner.
