Winter tires are awesome in near freezing weather. In anything above 40 - 45 degrees the summers are far superior. For most of the east coast, south of Boston, summers are the best choice.

If you want to be prepared for the 3 to 6 days per year you need the winters, and you don't mind the inferior performance the other 84 days of winter, get the winters.
