That is a must. I've dinged up the paint on my UUC/Wilwood kit on my E46 putting the wheels back on. Studs would have prevented that. Did I mention that its x100 easier to take the wheels on and off?
Lesson learned for everyone, if you do get 17mm lug nuts, I would suggest getting some extra. I lost one a couple of days before a track event and no one local had any. So after overnight charges, I paid $40 for 9 lug nuts.
