one could argue that all options are not absolutely necessary for enjoyment of your future M but i would strongly consider 6FL - iPod/USB connector! not only can you control an iPod from the steering wheel, you can plug in a USB thumbdrive loaded with mp3's and play those directly...
the utility of that option might not be immediately obvious if you're new to the marque
btw love the cayman s, would have gotten into a direct-injected S if i hadn't needed a bit more practicality...at least auto climate control is standard on the M instead of a ~500 dollar option!
