I've use it since owning. However small it is, I'm aware of it's value since we also own a hybrid car (CR-Z). Even fore and aft spirited driving its activated with no performance loss whatsoever. We spend hundreds of hours stopped in a light, bumper-to-bumper traffic or while waiting for fast food during the life of the car and BMW M will not place such feature if it has no value. They did consider m3 owners who thinks it does not belong there by having the option of turning it off. The only disadvantage is you have that millisecond lag when it starts right back up so if you are in a hurry or have an impatient guy in the rear it might be an issue. All I do is restart it earlier by letting go of the break pedal a bit or turning the steering wheel slightly before the green light.
