I've left it outside for 8 hours in that cold. The car starts but she's unhappy. Stock battery is up to snuff but a warmer for the battery would be good but I don't think we can do that since the battery is in the trunk.

Most people in your case just get a oil pan warmer like below. BMW Edmonton puts them on all the time.

If you are looking for a used M3 talk to EEC Motors and get one imported from the US. 2 of my neighbours did it with great savings and TBH I'd do it too. I'd change the cluster though.
