Here's the part I am confused by, OP: if your tuner has the connections to BMW to get this custom software, and has the wherewithal to be tinkering with such low level functions of the car, wouldn't he also be able to help diagnose the issues going on with your transmission? If not then, wow, it doesn't really seem like it was such a good idea to let him go messing with the car to begin with, IMHO.
