History has been that the top of the line non-M model is roughly the equal of the previous M.
The e36 328is ~ E30 M3
The e46 zhp ~ E36 M3
The E92 335 ~ E46 m3
Just history repeating itself. The problem is always the floppy suspension of the non-M car. Not that the M is exactly stiff.
