Guys, you have to still remember that though this S4 has an extra 95hp it's still weighs close on 1800kgs compared to the M3 at about 1625kgs (according to an Autocar weight test) so while they are closely matched for power the S4 is still trailing the M3 in power to weight, the most important thing in acceleration. So in my opinion what ever advantage the DSG was giving would have been more than cancelled out by it's weight disadvantage. Torque is the only thing that the S4 would have an advantage and it was evident at the early stages on the race, while the M3's gearing and torque that held strong nearer peak revs help it regain control but only towards the end of the race.
