Mine was giving the increased emissions + an erratic idle on cold starts. So they diagnosed the bad ICV first and that took 6 days in total (diagnosing, ordering the part, replacement). Then the increased emissions popped up again the day after I took it home, with a different fault code for the temp sensor (which they believe contributed to the erratic idle as well). I kept the car while they waited for the part to come in. The part came in I believe 4 days later and they had it for another 2 days to get it replaced.

So in all they had it for about a week but it would have been a week and a half had I not kept the car while they waited for the part.

It was safe to drive. I just needed to give it a little extra warm-up time on a cold start. They were short on loaners and I was sick of driving the crappy 328.
