For carry guns, less weight is better. Otherwise, you might buy a gun that has a bigger caliber or more ammo, but will end up carrying it less because of the weight.

For summer carry (shorts), I carry a Ruger LCP (.380) with alternating hollow and ball ammo for combined expansion and penetration.

For winter carry, I carry a Springfield EMP 9mm with JHP.

I used to own a 1911 steel commander bobtail in .45 (CBOB), but I found that it was a bit too heavy for everyday carry and ended up only carrying it occasionally. So far this summer, I have always carried my LCP with me everytime I go out. The weight feels like you're just carrying a large smart phone on your pocket.
