I didn't have the benefit of that DIY when I pulled mine out. Here's what I did:

Stand next to the side grill and grip it with both hands (thumbs on top, fingers on the bottom). In one motion, pinch as hard as you can, pull up and back toward you. It won't come out on the first effort, so you have to sort of rock it up and down a little bit. I didn't use any screwdrivers, trim removal tools, or other objects to remove it because I was paranoid of scraping my paint.

The good news is that once you get it out the first time and know exactly what to do, it's easy.
