AVG free has been effective for me for 99% of the time I've used it. Never spent a dime on protection and never get viruses.
I hate how Mactards always perpetuate the "PCs get viruses!!11" argument. The reason you Mactards used to get viruses on your PCs is because you are too fucking stupid to know how to get a decent anti-virus and basic rules to avoid viruses.
