It's happening across Europe, not just in Germany.
Btw, here is info from Automobilwoche about self-registrations (by dealer & carmakers) in German market in August 2012:
Hyundai: 44.0% self-regestrations of whole Hyundai car registrations in August
Opel: 42.4%
Ford: 33.9%
Audi: 23.8%
MB: 22.8%
VW: 22.7%
BMW: 22.2%
