I would expect a, "wow, that sucks..", "thats messed up", "terrible..", as normal responses. Of course the closer you are to the people involved, more emotion should be shown.
When people hear about this stuff and reply with, "Omg..
thats so sad", "My day was just ruined..
", "Let's go kill that fucker!!
", it's an abnormal response. They are either doing it for attention, to fit in with the people that should be emotional, or they have some issues of their own.
