I think the main reason the M3/M4 are going to have trouble is what he^said and the fact that theres really No room for performance upgrades, i mean so they come out with a HFC exhaust, how can you take advantage of it when the car cant even be tuned?
I would 100% for sure buy a C7 or a GTR first, or even other cars.
